This course is an introduction to Roman Catholic theology. Topics include: why theology is a science, the nature of subordinate science, how a theological approach differs from, and is similar to, a philosophical approach to God, the role of Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium in theology. Students read portions of the writings of Aquinas (i.e., Summa, Summa Contra Gentiles), Avery Cardinal Dulles, the Pontifical Biblical Commission, Pius XII, and John Paul II.
