St John Paul II, John Paul the Great, the 263rd successor to Saint Peter: he had the 3rd longest papacy in the history of the church, he made 104 international trips visiting 129 countries, 876 cities. He wrote 14 encyclicals. He helped to bring down the Iron Curtain, a champion of the poor and tireless advocate of religious freedom. It’s not hard to understand why he’s considered great.

The St. John Paul II series seeks to make known the wisdom contained within the encyclicals of this beloved pope.  His writings will be presented and explained, familiarizing the viewer with the structure, terms, and arguments of the text in order to appreciate its significance for philosophy and theology, and its application to contemporary culture.
